Mission Statement

Under the jurisdiction of the Ninth Judicial District Court, the Douglas County Juvenile Probation Department is committed to reducing delinquent behavior among youth by providing targeted interventions that address their specific needs while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the community.

As defined by The Nevada Revised Statutes, Chapter 62, the Douglas County Juvenile Probation Department is responsible for enforcing court orders. This includes ensuring all Court-ordered conditions are adhered to and providing juveniles with necessary services to reduce recidivism and promote positive behavioral change.

Services Provided

Walk-In and Crisis Intervention

The Douglas County Juvenile Probation department offers immediate assistance for youth and families in need. Walk in-services are available during business hours- no appointment is required. A juvenile probation officer will be able to connect your family with appropriate supports and services, with the goal of resolving concerns early and preventing formal involvement in the juvenile justice system.

Drug Testing

Parents or guardians who have concerns about possible substance use can request a drug test for their child through our department. Tests are available by appointment or during regular business hours for a fee. Results are confidential and only shared with the parent/guardian.

Parent Project

The Parent Project offers research-based training for parents/guardians to include practical strategies to manage destructive behaviors, improve family dynamics, and build stronger, more respectful relationships with adolescents.

Outdoor Behavioral Health

Our Outdoor Behavioral Health Program gives probation youth a chance to grow through adventure and nature. While exploring the beautiful outdoors of Douglas County and surrounding areas, youth build life skills, confidence and healthy behaviors through proven programs such as “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective teens” and “The 6 Most Important Decisions You’ll ever make”. This court-ordered program combines fresh air, physical activity, and evidence-based curriculum to help promote personal growth, responsibility and positive decision-making.

Restitution

Victims of juvenile delinquency are entitled to reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket expenses. If you are a victim and need assistance or information regarding restitution, please contact us directly.

Community Supervision
